Background
Ahmed was born in Aswan in 1992 and took his degree in Egyptology at Cairo University in 2014. His field is the New Kingdom, and Tutankhamun in particular.
He started learning Hungarian as an adult, in 2017, with the help of a visiting professor teaching at Cairo University at the time. He is fluent now, though he insists the accent is "a bit southern".
He has worked as a licensed guide since 2018 — Giza, Saqqara, Dahshur, the Egyptian Museum and the new Grand Egyptian Museum. Alongside the standard pyramid day he likes steering people toward the quieter sites: guests who travel with Ahmed often spend longer at Saqqara than at Giza.
He is the reason a painted wall in a tomb stops being decoration and turns into a sentence you can read.
One more thing: Ahmed keeps a guidebook in the car for guests who would rather read than talk on the long drive — and a Hungarian-language one alongside it.
