Pyramids of Giza day trip

Best for: First-time visitors who have one day to spare and refuse to spend twelve of its hours on a bus.

Most Hurghada operators sell this as a coach trip: seven hours on the road each way, and roughly three hours on the plateau at the end of it. We fly instead. You are on the Giza plateau before the mid-morning heat, you have a private car and a licensed Egyptologist for the whole day in Cairo, and you are back at your hotel the same evening rather than at two in the morning. It is the difference between seeing the pyramids and enduring the journey to them.

Egyptian mezze, grills, fresh bread. Vegetarian and halal handled if you tell us in advance.

14:00 – 16:00

19:30

Back at your hotel

In time for dinner, which the coach version cannot promise.

What to bring

FAQ

Questions people actually ask

Is the flight really included in €499?

+

Yes — the return Hurghada–Cairo flight, the private car at both ends, the Egyptologist, both site entries and lunch are all in the quoted price. The coach version of this trip is cheaper, and we will happily quote it, but you spend fourteen hours travelling to get three at the pyramids.

Is this a private tour or a group?

+

Private. Your guide and car are yours for the day, so the pace is yours too. If you want ninety minutes at the Sphinx and twenty at the museum, that is your call to make on the day.

Can we go inside a pyramid?

+

Yes, with a separate ticket bought on the day, around €25. Be honest with yourself first: the passage into the Great Pyramid is low, steep, hot and unlit for long stretches. If enclosed spaces bother you at all, the outside is the better memory.

How much walking is involved?

+

Four to six kilometres across the day, spread over the plateau and the museum, almost all of it flat. There is nothing technical about it, but there is a lot of sun and very little shade.

What happens if the flight is delayed?

+

Your guide reshuffles the day around it — usually the museum shortens and the plateau stays intact. If a delay is bad enough to cost you the pyramids entirely, you do not pay for the trip.

When do we pay?

+

On the day, in cash, to your guide. Booking costs nothing and there is no deposit and no card form — cancel up to 48 hours before and nothing is owed.
