Hurghada → Eastern Desert
Quad bikes, a camel, and sunset over the Eastern Desert
Children from €35 · Final price depends on group size and date
⏱ 5 hours · 📍 Hurghada → Eastern Desert
Best for: An afternoon when the beach has run out of ideas and you want to see what is behind the hotels.
Hurghada has desert on three sides and most visitors never set foot in it. The Eastern Desert is not dunes-to-the-horizon Sahara — it is dark volcanic hills, gravel plains and wadis, and it turns extraordinary colours in the last hour of light. You ride out with a lead guide rather than alone, stop at a Bedouin camp for tea, and watch the sunset from a ridge with nothing built on it.

The schedule
Times are indicative. Your guide confirms the exact pickup the evening before, and the order can shift to dodge crowds or heat.
14:30
Timed backwards from sunset, so it shifts by an hour or so across the year.
15:30
Briefing, helmets, and a few minutes to get used to the controls.
16:00 – 17:30
In convoy behind a lead guide. Buggies seat two, so nobody has to ride alone.
17:45
Fifteen minutes, and more photogenic than comfortable.
18:00
Sweet tea, basbousa, and usually someone with a simsimiyya who plays it properly.

FAQ
No. Quads go to adults of 18 and over without one. Buggies seat two, so a licensed driver is not required for the passenger seat either.
From 16 they can ride a quad alone, and from 6 as a passenger. Below 6 we would rather you did not — the ride is bumpy and the dust is real.
The convoy moves at a controlled speed behind a lead guide, helmets are compulsory, and the terrain is flat gravel rather than dunes. Nearly every incident here involves someone deciding to break away from the group, which is exactly what the guide is there to prevent.
Between November and March, 10–15°C within half an hour of the sun going. In summer it stays around 25°C and the evening is the best part of the day.
Tea, coffee and local pastries are included. A proper Bedouin dinner — grilled meat, rice, salads, bread from the fire — is an optional €15 and worth staying for if you are not in a hurry.
